Friendly racing all year round for all ages and abilities
Club racing is held on either a Saturday or Sunday each weekend for a variety of club trophies. Racing at our club is very friendly and we encourage members to join in with any of the races if they fancy having a go. In addition the first race each Saturday is specifically for Beginners and Improvers.
Racing is under the supervision of the Officer of the Day assisted by a duty team. There are 19 duty teams which means every member is expected to attend 2 to 3 duty days per year. This involves helping to run the racing, operate the safety boats and provide a galley service.
"Summer" race start times
During British Summer Time there are four races starting at 11:00, 13:00, 14:30 and 16:00
The 11:00 race on Saturday mornings is for beginners and improvers with many of the super sailors staying on to take part.
On Sunday the 13:00 race is a pursuit based on personal handicap, with slower boats and helms starting ahead of the quicker boats and helms. Then all they need to do is stay ahead until the hooter sounds for the end of the race.
